India’s first Chandan museum was inaugurated by District Minister ST Somashekhar in Mysuru. It is the first museum of its kind with more than 20 species of sandalwood.
The purpose of the forest department is to spread awareness about the history, cultivation of sandalwood products as well as provide a platform for people to see the varieties of sandalwood species.
So now tourists from the country and abroad coming to Mysuru will see this first sandalwood sacred wooden museum of India along with visiting the royal palaces and other major sites of Mysuru. Sandalwood has been considered the most sacred in Hindu Ved Puranas.

भारत का पहला चंदन संग्रहालय कहाँ है?
भारत के पहले चंदन संग्रहालय का उद्घाटन मैसूरु में जिला मंत्री एसटी सोमशेखर ने किया था। यह चंदन की 20 से अधिक प्रजातियों के साथ अपनी तरह का पहला संग्रहालय है।
वन विभाग का उद्देश्य इतिहास के बारे में जागरूकता फैलाना, चंदन उत्पादों की खेती के साथ-साथ लोगों को चंदन की प्रजातियों की किस्मों को देखने के लिए एक मंच प्रदान करना है।
इसलिए अब देश और विदेश से मैसूरु आने वाले पर्यटक भारत के इस पहले चंदन के पवित्र लकड़ी के संग्रहालय को शाही महलों और मैसूरु के अन्य प्रमुख स्थलों पर जाने के साथ देखेंगे। हिंदू वेद पुराणों में चंदन को सबसे पवित्र माना गया है।
